Conference on Multiscale Problems
9–11 October 2006
Organizers
- Folkmar Bornemann (München)
- Stephan Luckhaus (Leipzig)
- Alexander Mielke (Berlin)
- Stefan Müller (Leipzig)
- Herbert Spohn (München)
General Information
The conference is organized by the DFG Priority Program Analysis, Modeling and Simulation of Multiscale Problems, which was initiated by the DFG in 2000.
See http://www.mathematik.uni-stuttgart.de/~mehrskalen for the history and recent activities of this program. The topics of the conference will range from fundamental work in the analysis and numerics in multiscale problems into their applications in several fields of science and engineering:
- transitions from discrete to continuum systems
- analysis and numerics of Hamiltonian systems with several time scales
- interfaces and microstructures in solidification
- microstructures in solids, including micromagnetism and plasticity
- molecular dynamics and mathematical biology
- semiclassical and quantum mechanics for semiconductor modeling
